Finished

My 10 Minute Block quilt is finished. I made this quilt for my Niece's Wedding.  I used minkee on the back and I quilted it free motion on my domestic machine.  With minkee on the back it is like wrestling an alligator but it worked out okay.  The fabric is from Anne Sutton's Will and Lily line.  You can find a link on how to make this quilt on a previous post.

Dirt Cake Tutorial

One of my families favorite desserts is called Dirt Cake.  Its easy enough and more important its delicious, but it is not a diet friendly food.  My children really love it when I dress it up and make it look like a real plant (as shown in the picture). So lets get started.

First gather all of the ingredients, the butter and cream cheese need to be at room temperature. (recipe is at the bottom of the post)

Crumble your oreos and set aside.  I love to use the blender attachment for my Bosch, but if you don't have a blender simply put the oreos in a large Ziploc bag and smash with a rolling pin. (This is especially good on those long days).
In a large bowl cream together the cream cheese, butter and powder sugar, set aside.  In another bowl mix pudding and milk together and add to the butter mixture.Make sure its mixed well and fold in the cool whip. (remember that folding in an ingredient takes patience and time)

Now your ready to combine everything.  You can use a plastic pot made for plants (I use plastic because they are dish washer safe and cheap) or you can use a 9x13 pan.

If you are using a pot start by putting Oreo crumbs in the bottom to help prevent the pudding mixture from dripping down into the holes.  Then alternate between the pudding mixture and Oreo crumbs, making sure that you don't forget the gummy worms and that you end with oreos on top.

One more thing for those of you who want it to look like a plant.  You'll need to go get some silk flowers and trim them up with wire cutters (I have a pair on hand that are mine and are only used for cake decorating and cooking).

You will also need saran wrap to cover the ends of you flowers to prevent your food from being contaminated.

Side note for all of those cake decorators out there: always cover your wires before putting them into cakes!

Now enjoy - and try to not eat too much! =)

Pillow Sham Tutorial

This tutorial will explain how to make a pillow sham for the "Let It Snow" stitchery pattern.  You can easily make a pillow using a panel of fabric instead of the finished stitchery. If the tutorial link isn't working you can find it at: http://www.slideshare.net/AzureMoonDesign/pillow-sham-101#

This post goes along the lines of my last post "Beauty is all around", but this post has a fun twist to it. I have a beautiful scene right out my front window.
In this picture there is a star, if you can find the star please leave a comment telling us where it is and what the star is made with.  We will then hold a drawing on Monday at 12:00 pm (noon) Mountain standard time.   The lucky winner will win a stichery pattern.

Don't look at other's posts to find the answer it will ruin the fun. :)

Crazy Patch Heart Tutorial

My niece lives about 8 hours from me and she wanted to make a crazy patch quilt.  I created this tutorial for her and I thought you might be interested in it.  I learned to make a crazy patch using a foundation piece.  I decided to make a pillow.  I hope you enjoy this tutorial it was 17 minutes long and I had to cut off 3 minutes so it would fit on YouTube.  Have a fun quilty week: Jenice

Beauty is all around ...

As we live our lives we often get caught up in the hustle and bustle of things and either forget or don't realize that we need to take time and enjoy life and the beauty that is all around us.  Yesterday my family and I woke up to freezing rain.  Now this can be a dangerous thing, but when you don't have anywhere to go and your kids are home safe due to school cancellations it's a great thing to enjoy with all its beauty and wonder.
I guess I should introduce myself - my name is Teralyn Smith the designer behind some of the products you have seen by Azure Moon Design and Jenice's daughter. I have 4 beautiful children who keep me very busy - the oldest will be 8 in March and the youngest is 1 month old.  I hope you have enjoyed the blog so far and hope that you will continue to enjoy it as we embark on  this wonderful adventure of quilting, crafts, sewing and on occasion cake decorating.
I hope you are all having a wonderful Ground Hog's Day - I don't know about you but I am very grateful for Puxatawny Phil's prediction that spring is on it's way.  I sure hope he is right.  With Spring comes all sorts of beauty and since my little family just moved to Indiana from Utah I am excited to see what the Midwest has to offer.  I hope that each of you will take the time to look around and take in the beauty that surrounds you.
